Mississippi Vampires
Mar 31, 2012

Mississippi Vampires
Author: Vicky Renee Johnson
Publisher: Amazon Digital Publishing
Publication Date: August, 2011

Book Description:
Jonathan's human life had not amounted to much. He began his days in Amory, Mississippi, the eldest and only son of Robert and Judith Garland, born April 26, 1905. Even though he was a child of the great depression, his childhood had been a privileged one. Jonathan's future was bright until he met the Beautiful and Enchanting... Ruby Leigh.

Once turned he was accepted by his new brothers, Dylan, Garret, Randy and Patch. Together they would not only have to face Ruby Leigh, their mysterious maker, but also Stefan, A Blues playing Vampire who had gone down to the Crossroads and sold his soul.

Third Book in Vicky's Southern Vampire Series

Idgie Says:
The vampires are this story are surprisingly human.  A lot of the myths are removed - they can hang out in the sunlight, no fear of garlic, etc.  In fact most of the vampires in this story hold down jobs, date, get married and have the usual angst that goes along with life.  They just don't die and every now and again need to take down dinner in a back alley.

There is a mystery to the book as to why Ruby Leigh turns 20 men, all of the same age, intelligence and good looks into vampires and then apparently dumps them instead of using them as "security" as so many other vampires do.

There is also the usual "Good Vampire vs. Bad Vampire" battle going on and the struggle to remain "human" in thoughts and feelings while secretly wanting to suck the life out of everyone they see.

A slim book, but if you maintain the interest in the Vampire stories that are all the rage right now - this book could while away the afternoon pleasantly.

Welcome to the Book Review Section at the Dew!

If you are a publishing house or author who has a book Southern in nature, or by a Southern writer, that you would like the Dew to review, please contact me at dewonthekudzu@gmail.com and I will provide you mailing information. (Wink wink, nudge nudge... the Dew has been getting a little lax about the Southern rule recently... just saying.)

The Dew tries it's best to have a review online as close to the publication date as possible, depending on the number of books waiting for review.

Please note, book reviews are the Dew's "business". The Dew does NOT post it's reviews on other sites. Please do not request that we do so. Thank you.

BUT, if I review your book, you may feel free to share it wherever you wish!
