Book Description:
The second in a series, Frankie McKeller is back on the beach, this time as the new House Detective of The Ocean Forest Hotel. When he is asked to look into the disappearance of a young girl, he is thrown into an underworld of bootleggers, illegal gambling and vice. When another girl turns up dead, Frankie’s limited skills are put to the ultimate test.
It’s murder and mayhem in the sand as Frankie contends with the other side of life in Myrtle Beach and a taboo romance that can never be.
Idgie Says:
A Damn Yankee (one who comes to visit the South and stays), Frankie doesn't like his job as basically a hotel bouncer. He's a private detective, but decided a steady paycheck was worth the boredom of the job....for a while. A grouchy, unhappy with his life detective that actually has a heart of gold, get's in just slightly over his head when a girl goes missing and then another dies.
A good crime mystery book that's an easy read and keeps your attention. At jut under 240 pages it has a fast pace and jumps right into the action. For fans of this genre it's a good pick.
This is the second in the series and the first (not reviewed by the Dew) has some high praise. Perhaps it might be best to start with that first, though I don't believe that's a "must" to follow the story line.
