How would you like to be part of the "hidden family"? The side family that cannot be acknowledged legitimately. Why not....well because the father just happens to be legally married with another daughter and they live right across town. The other daughter is your same age but goes to a better school, has better clothes and can tell people her daddy's name. How would you feel about all that?
That's what this story is about. Dana lives with her mother in an apartment. Once a week her daddy comes to dinner. The rest of the time his best friend pretends to be her father and it's his name on the birth certificate.
Dana struggles for acceptance, and simple acknowledgement of the fact that she's his. When he won't accept her publicly, she doesn't feel she need to accept his rules and regulations. Her mother wants her to behave and take whatever Dana receives from him, as she does.
Dana doesn't feel she needs to settle for that nonsense.
A good story that revolves around Dana - a girl growing into womanhood, growing into her own ideals..............all while just wishing to be acknowledged by family.
