Revenge of the Kudzu Debutantes is the beginning of a possible series of books revolving around Eadie, Lavonne and Nita - A trio of friends who live outside of Atlanta. I know that there is already a sequel coming out, The Secret Lives of the Kudzu Debutantes, but don't know if it will go further than 2 books.

These ladies are in the prime of life, right about 40, who've all been housewives and friends for the last 15 - 20 years, while they're husbands own a law firm together. While vaguely unhappy and bored with life, Nita and Lavonne have their lives going on a simple, calm pathway that will carry them thru to the retirement, old age and death. Meanwhile Eadie is fighting desperately to get her husband, who she's sure still love her, away from his 20 year old secretary that he's recently moved in with. She's sure it's nothing more than a mid-life crisis.

Suddenly, after much Tequila at a company party they start comparing notes and come to a horrible discovery - that their husband's yearly hunting trip to a ranch is actually a week of drinking and hookers. The same trip they've been going on for the last 15 years while their wives stay at home caring for the children and wondering why there's never a family vacation.

Over more Tequila they turn into the Steel Magnolias that they are and start plotting revenge. With Eadie as their hell raising leader - these girls go out for some serious payback, yet all the while wondering if they're doing the right thing.

A small part of the revenge is attending the Kudzu Ball - an annual party/festival/competition designed to make fun of those straight-laced cotillion coming out dances that are so well known in the South. It's rich with Redneck Games and pot liquor... and of course Kudzu decorating everything.

The second part of the revenge involves the sabotaging of their husband's hunting trip - many, many funny moments there.

This is a great Chick Lite read that's fast paced and chock full of interesting characters. Many amusing moments in this book - perfect escapism. I'm ready to read the second book right now!

Welcome to the Book Review Section at the Dew!

If you are a publishing house or author who has a book Southern in nature, or by a Southern writer, that you would like the Dew to review, please contact me at dewonthekudzu@gmail.com and I will provide you mailing information. (Wink wink, nudge nudge... the Dew has been getting a little lax about the Southern rule recently... just saying.)

The Dew tries it's best to have a review online as close to the publication date as possible, depending on the number of books waiting for review.

Please note, book reviews are the Dew's "business". The Dew does NOT post it's reviews on other sites. Please do not request that we do so. Thank you.

BUT, if I review your book, you may feel free to share it wherever you wish!
