Man of the House is a book with an interesting premise, but not that unusual of one in this day and age.
Linc is a stay at home dad taking care of his teenage daughter while his wife, who has always earned the better income, travels extensively for her career and is basically an absentee parent.
He excels at his job and makes sure all meals are nutritious, all books mentally stimulating, all activities healthy and wholesome. He's the perfect parent.
But he realizes one day, as he tries to hang out with the workers remodeling his home, that he has lost his "guy coolness" completely. Men don't hang out with him because he's too odd and talks about baking. Women see him as competition and yes, again .. odd, at school. He has no real friends.
This comes to a head when he discovers there's a hurricane heading for them threatening lives and home. He decides not only to "man up" again while still taking care of the home, but he discovers he has to pull his hidden reserves out to fight nature.
This book is coming from a man's perspective of losing himself in homelife, but in truth, it's anyone's story. Anyone that one day wakes up and wonders how long they've cocooned themselves into their little nitch and let the rest of the world go by.
