I need to meet Lou in person and check out his personality. This book is written with such a lovely warped humor that I believe chatting with him would be immensely enjoyable. A slim book, but full of life and charm.
Charlie’s forced to move into his younger brother Jute’s room after his Uncle Dan shows up in town with a new bride and a car full of questionably legal goods for sale. The house is already crowded with Memaw and Pawpaw watching them ever since Daddy went to prison and Mama disappeared in a hurricane.
Charlie prefers not to sleep with Jute since he still wets the bed every night, but what’s a boy to do………except scoot to the edge of the bed or go sleep with the family horse, Lunch Time.
This book is full of rollicking stories - the family is a scattered mess with some bizarre happenings occurring around and because of them, but at the same time they are very fascinating to read about. I love the writing style, it reaches out and drags you right in.
