A Tramp's Wallet
Author: Sam Pickering

Though I dislike straight comparisons between authors and books - given that one of my favorite books of all time is Bill Bryson's Australian travel book, In a Sunburned Country, I couldn't help but compare.

Sam has the same wonderful sense of sarcasm just oozing out of his pores as he experiences oddities and frustrations of traveling as Bill does.  He pepppers his sentences with little jabs and barbs while still making the tiniest observations incredibly interesting.

I loved the oddball people he met while in Australia and commiserated with him as dealt with international travel and all that it involves.

I very much enjoy reading these types of books, with their little pithy tales of foreign locations and the people's day to day habits that we might find confusing and sometimes even startling.  I will happily add Sam to my short pile of books that I keep by the bed for a quick read before snoozing off.. right next to Bill.

Welcome to the Dew Book Review Section!

Welcome to the Book Review Section at the Dew!

If you are a publishing house or author who has a book Southern in nature, or by a Southern writer, that you would like the Dew to review, please contact me at dewonthekudzu@gmail.com and I will provide you mailing information. (Wink wink, nudge nudge... the Dew has been getting a little lax about the Southern rule recently... just saying.)

The Dew tries it's best to have a review online as close to the publication date as possible, depending on the number of books waiting for review.

Please note, book reviews are the Dew's "business". The Dew does NOT post it's reviews on other sites. Please do not request that we do so. Thank you.

BUT, if I review your book, you may feel free to share it wherever you wish!
