Isabel has planned her entire life out. She is organized, ruthless, driven and fairly successful.
She's also very tired and resentful of her life that she feels is not what she wants.
She took over the family winery after her ex-husband - and still partner - talked her family into moving from Argentina years ago and opening a California winery. They worked very hard and it brought success. But Isabel feels she was never allowed to lead her own path, that her parents leaned on her.
Now her parents are gone, Nick, her ex-husband and ex-alcoholic, is engaged to someone else and the winery is successful enough to have some very interested investors looking into buying it. She'll be free to pursue her own dreams - finally.
That's her plan anyway, until she receives a phone call telling her that her cousin has died in Argentina and has made her guardian of her three children. A shock to say the least. Isabel had no idea she was listed as their guardian, in fact she barely knows them.
As Isabel travels to Argentina to attempt to hand the children over to someone else in the family there, she soon learns that life is not always as easy as writing a goal in a Day-Planner.
This is a nice, solid novel about life, love and choices with the added bonus of some wonderfully descriptive and informative tidbits on life and culture in Argentina.
