This is a follow up to the very fun Ten Beach Road that Wendy published last year. In that book, the lovely ladies had each lost their bank accounts to Nicole's shifty brother in a Ponzi scheme. They were given an rundown mansion in Florida as settlement, but found they all owned it. The story revolved around them getting to know each other, restoring the home and each dealing with their own personal issues.
In this continuing sage, the ladies now have been given a renovation show after Kyra (daughter to Maddie and mother to movie star's son) taped the entire renovation project of the first house and it became a YouTube sensation.
They all still have their issues that follow them even as they move on with their lives and find a way to grow their bank accounts again. Maddie's husband Steve is resentful that she's now the breadwinner. Avery still hasn't forgiven her mother for putting her career first. Nicole is trying to recover from being the sister of an embezzler that everyone hates, and Kyra has her movie star fling thinking about demanding custody of the baby.
A new mystery revolves around the house that has been picked to receive a makeover. Max, a famous comedienne from the 50s and 60s promised his wife on her deathbed to fix up the house so that their son will recognize it should he come home again. That's a mystery that I don't want to give away as it's a nice jolt midway through the beginning of the book.
The book is filled with hot men, excitement, a murder attempt and a houseful of tired, hot, cranky women trying to get along with each other long enough to make some money.
A fun read.
