This is a Southern family story, based in Atlanta, Georgia, that has all the usual stereotypical Southern characters that are found in most Southern novels, with a few extras thrown in.
It's the story of one rich family from the right side of the tracks, who of course is riddled with family issues. Another family is from the wrong side of the tracks, struggling to get by, with their own set of issues.
The families weave in and out of each others lives and each affects the outcome of the other in interesting and unexpected ways. It spans approximately a 10-15 year timeframe.
While the book does contain the usual roles in the book, the Southern Matriarch, the Restless Housewife, the Husband who's absent even while home, the Discontented Rude Children - there are plenty of characters in this book to keep it from being the same ol' thing.
I'll tell you, I thought the first chapter was a winner - it's ending had me laughing out loud in astonishment and unexpected shock.
