By now I believe very few people do not know about the television hit "True Blood" on HBO. What people might not know is that the show started as a series of books based on a hot little waitress in Bon Temp, Louisiana, who just happens to be psychic and very attractive to vampires.
So far there are 9 books in the very successful series. The Dew reviewed 3 of them in 2005 and thought this might be a fine time to remind readers about the books.
Vampires are all around the area ever since they made their true presence known years before when a fake blood was manufactured and they didn't have to depend on sucking humans dry to survive. She tends to be attracted to vampires as she is unable to read their minds, which is quite soothing to a girl who works in a bar (for a werewolf) and has to spend nights on end hearing what everyone is thinking.
A Touch of Dead is a compilation of chapters from various books in her series. You have Sookie meeting up with the likes of fairies, goblins, witches, hot vampire dudes, Vlad Tempes and, yes, even Elvis.
All the books are fun reads, but this book would be a good place to start if you've never read about Sookie's antics before.
