An excellent Crime Thriller with a very likable protagonist. As we know, we don't always like or get the warm fuzzies from these crime novel "heroes".
Mickey works out of the back of his bullet proof Lincoln (You might have heard about another one of his books,The Lincoln Lawyer...) instead of an office and prefers to stay there. The drug boss he got it off of didn't need it anymore after he stepped out of it!
Mickey has a client, who he suspects might actually be guilty of the murder she's accused of. Not a very helpful suspicion to have. But when you need the money.....
This is a tight courtroom drama with a lot of procedural phrasing and action. You have to keep up with all ins and outs of the legal system, but at the same time the action keeps you on your toes. Again, Michael makes Mickey such a likable character that even if courtroom drama novels aren't your thing, you'll want to know how it all turns out in the end.
