Wow. How to discuss this creepy, supernatural, twisted, fantasy based/human deviant novel without giving away any of the plot - that's what I'm pondering on as I type.
I received it in the mail on Friday and immediately pushed all others aside to settle in for a creepy night of reading. By the time I turned off the light I was regretting my decision.
Do you believe that Fairies and Ghoulies live underground and come up through trapdoors under beds? Do you believe if you do what they want they'll take you away to their land when you don't want to be in your own anymore? Lisa did....... and disappeared when she was 12 into the woods outside of a town that was suddenly abandoned by everyone in the middle of the night 60 or so years before.
15 years later Phoebe, who also believes things come up from beneath the bed, is living with Lisa's brother and has a great life going - except for the dark shadowy things she sees out of the corner of her eyes all the time.
Suddenly a phone call comes. A young girl's voice. Lisa? Saying she's coming back from the land of the fairies. Coming home.
Can it really be Lisa? Was she really taken by the fairies or was she abducted by a human pervert years before? A wild ride of confusion, deceit, trickery and things that can't be true all follow in this "can't put it down" book.
The ending has not one, but TWO complete shockers.
Want a creepy, but not gory book to help you not sleep at night? Grab this one.
Now I'm off to the store to buy a night light. A big one.
