This is the third Michael Koryta book that the Dew has received for review and by far my favorite. It jumped right into the story and kept the adrenaline going right through to the end.
What happens when you take near death, murder, mysterious blue lights, possibly the devil...........and 67 rescue lions, tigers and panthers and put them into the mountains of Kentucky? You get mystery and thrills all the way through the story.
The mystery starts when a cat preserve moves onto the property across from a a strange, unfriendly man who happens to have a working lighthouse on the grounds. A lighthouse that he refuses to turn off. The thrills start when the lighthouse does lose power. Apparently, in that part of the woods, bad things happen when the lights go out.
Add a cop whose in love with a woman who might have some of the secrets to the dark woods and how things go wrong there - who also happens to be the woman who shot him in the back five years ago - along with an other worldly black panther and a curious retired reporter...........and you have a very good story that left me wanting more, even after the last page.
I'm already tapping my fingers impatiently, waiting for Michael's next book.
