Carrie is a good girl. A very good girl. She tries her best to be everything her mother wants her to be. Why? Well, her mother is a saint. Or you would think so from the newspaper and magazine articles written about her.

Carrie's mother, Rose, is from a line of Broadway stars. Rich, famous, brazen theatre stars. Rose and her husband were beautiful, dashing, shining personalities.

But somewhere along the way, Rose's entire lifestyle changed and she gave away all her jewels, her furs, her penthouse apartment and started to live a life that involved nothing but charity work. She gave away all of Carrie's toys and clothes, moved them into a one bedroom apartment where Rose slept on the couch for the next 34 years, and became more famous for her good deeds than when she was rich.

This story starts after Rose dies and Carrie decides she needs to find out about her family's life and why Rose lived and acted the way she did, so that she can have closure and get on with her life - which she has never fully participated in.

And the stories she finds!

This is a quick, nice read - I started it and just was hooked right into the story until suddenly I hit the last page and stared at it in surprise...how did this happen?

I say give it a read!

Welcome to the Book Review Section at the Dew!

If you are a publishing house or author who has a book Southern in nature, or by a Southern writer, that you would like the Dew to review, please contact me at dewonthekudzu@gmail.com and I will provide you mailing information. (Wink wink, nudge nudge... the Dew has been getting a little lax about the Southern rule recently... just saying.)

The Dew tries it's best to have a review online as close to the publication date as possible, depending on the number of books waiting for review.

Please note, book reviews are the Dew's "business". The Dew does NOT post it's reviews on other sites. Please do not request that we do so. Thank you.

BUT, if I review your book, you may feel free to share it wherever you wish!
