Yankee Doodle Dixie
Sep 13, 2011

Yankee Doodle Dixie
Author:  Lisa Patton
Publisher:  Thomas Dunne Books
Publication Date:  September 13, 2011
ISBN:  978-312-55693-8

This is a sequel and directly begins where the first book, Whistlin’ Dixie in a Nor’easter leaves off.  I will say right now that I highly recommend you read the first book before starting this one – to me you need that character build up and history from the first novel to jump into this story.
(Dew reviewed: http://dewbookreviews.blogspot.com/2009/09/whistlin-dixie-in-noreaster.html)
Leelee leaves Vermont and the Inn where she resided for a little over a year to return to Memphis – her homeland.   She rolls into town in the middle of the night to find refuge with the woman that raised her, Kissie.

She has to begin to figure out how to re-start her life as a single mother.  She wants a career, but a simple job might have to suffice for now.  She also needs a place to live, she can’t keep bunking with Kissee (no matter what the lovely lady says) – the woman’s 81 now and deserves her quiet.

As Leelee contemplates opening a restaurant, wooing down the Northern chef that not only saved her Inn in Vermont but planted a pretty good kiss on her as she was leaving that town to return home…she also has to come to terms with thriving once more on her own and supporting her little girls.   That said, she plots her future in this book with humor, sly sarcasm and a realistic look at life.

Welcome to the Dew Book Review Section!

Welcome to the Book Review Section at the Dew!

If you are a publishing house or author who has a book Southern in nature, or by a Southern writer, that you would like the Dew to review, please contact me at dewonthekudzu@gmail.com and I will provide you mailing information. (Wink wink, nudge nudge... the Dew has been getting a little lax about the Southern rule recently... just saying.)

The Dew tries it's best to have a review online as close to the publication date as possible, depending on the number of books waiting for review.

Please note, book reviews are the Dew's "business". The Dew does NOT post it's reviews on other sites. Please do not request that we do so. Thank you.

BUT, if I review your book, you may feel free to share it wherever you wish!
