Book Description:
There's no Christmas like Christmas in the small Delta town of Second Creek, Mississippi.
When the new First Lady of Second Creek, Gaylie Girl Dunbar, approaches
her new husband, Mayor Hale Dunbar, former owner of the local Piggly
Wiggly market, with a civic project involving Christmas caroling around
the historic town square, all the local church choirs quickly sign up
for the big event.
What Idgie Says:
The Dew first reviewed a Piggly Wiggly book in September, 2010 - A Piggly Wiggly Wedding. (Review HERE) At the time Mr. Choppy and Gaylie Girl were finally getting married after decades of mooning quietly over each other.
When this book begins, they have just returned from their honeymoon and find the town attempting to plan a wonderful holiday celebration that will not only bring more business into town, but not add additional stress to the town members who are currently in financial straights. Unfortunately a fire takes out the town square and it looks like Christmas is doomed. Until the Nitwitts (the town matrons) take over to deliver what was promised.
Another cute Southern tale with charm to spare. As stated in my first review though, the cutesy names tend to grate on the nerves after a bit.
