Sarah Booth is an "almost actress" and a private investigator. She lives in a small southern town, in her ancestral home, with a ghost as a nanny - whether she wants a nanny or not.
Sarah Booth is an almost actress as she has good looks and lucked into a role in a movie, but apparently in the last book a murderer destroyed the film and she now has nothing but movie posters in the local coffee house to show for her grand adventure.
Oh, that and a movie star boyfriend.
But before Sarah Booth can continue on with her movie career, she has to solve the mystery of why several people in her town, all who've gone out to abandoned land that is being leased to the government to grow crops on, are near death in an isolation ward at the hospital.
Meanwhile her ghost nanny is all over her to settle down and have babies before the ticking clock runs out. How'd you like to be haunted by that kind of ghost!?!
This is a fine little beach read/mystery book with fun characters and quick story forward action. Apparently it might help if you read some of the earlier series for some background information (such as why Sarah is always Sarah Booth by everyone she meets instead of just Sarah), but there's not enough missing to hinder the story.
