This book was originally published in 2006, but is now in reprint since the movie came out in September, starring Mira Sorvino and Barry Pepper.
This is a gripping story of a young woman who gives her baby away for adoption after the father goes to prison and she has no way of caring for the child.
Several years go by and the child is with a wonderful, caring couple who give him the best of care and love. The issue, when the boy's father gets out of prison, he finds out about the adoption and he never signed release papers on his end. The adoption is not binding.
Thus starts the heart-wrenching battle between the family the child knows and loves - the only life he's ever known - and the family that wants him back.
True tearjerker.
