I had the enjoyable opportunity to meet Miss Olivia in person and she is all that is a perfect Southern Woman. Gracious, kind, sensitive and warm. Very proper in her appearance.
How wonderful to open this slim book of short anecdotes and find myself unexpectedly chuckling and snorting as she tells it like it is. These are tales from real life where Proper Southern Woman are strong enough to not only embrace their eccentricities, but share them with others.
One of my favoritetales was on how to handle a sassin' youngin. Not they way it's handled so often these days, with thoughtful "talking it out".
Olivia discusses how to properly hold a social coffee call - please make sure there's some coffee involved there somewhere. Chocolate at least in a pinch. A good hostess will have both.
Do you know how hard it is to pee in public? Her friend Monica does. That's good reading right there.
One of my favorite stories is the one that describes a "tunagasm". You'll find out when you read the book!
This is a fun book to read and perfect size for your purse. Take it to lunch, a waiting room or even the bathtub. Now that I've seen this other side of Miss Olivia, I plan on taking her out for drinks to see what happens!
