This story is an awesome take on the story of Hansel and Gretel. It’s location is still in the woods, with a “witch” who lives and works in a sweet shop, and two grown children named Ansel and Gretchen. But add twins snatched by witches, vicious werewolves, a “woodsman” who happens to be a hot 20 year old guy, plus a creepy closed off small town that has had 9 teen-age girls – all Gretchen’s age - disappear in the last 3 years and you have the makings of a fine Young Adult book.
It’s terrific how it keeps alluding to the original tale while making it completely different and modern.
This is aimed toward young adults, so the story has moments of sexual tension but no overly sexual scenes. Safe for the younger teens to read.
