CeeCee is having a very rough childhood. Her father is a traveling salesman that she barely sees. Meanwhile he leaves her home with her mother, who just happens to be slowly disappearing into her own mysterious world. CeeCee spends more time taking care of her mother than any small child should have.

CeeCee's mother spends her days walking around town in old ratty prom dresses bought at Goodwill and a tiara - because in her mind she is still Ms. Vidalia Queen of 1951.

CeeCee has not a single friend at school and her after school hours are taken over by keeping her mother from doing harm to herself.

When she is 12 she comes home to find her father there with a policeman. Her mother has been hit by a car and died crossing the street.

Her father, who has never been close to her, quickly pawns her off on her mothers Great Aunt Tootie from Savannah. And here starts CeeCee's reemergence into life and the joy of being loved. Tootie has a close knit pack of friends who quickly claim CeeCee as their own. She slowly grows to love and appreciate all of these wonderful women, and starts on her way to her own wonderful life.

But the overshadowing fear for CeeCee is that she has discovered her mother had a psychosis that is hereditary. CeeCee greatly fears that she will one day become her mother.

Will she be able to overcome her fears and depend on this new family that loves her to help her find her way in the world?

Read to find out! A very nice, pleasant read.

Welcome to the Book Review Section at the Dew!

If you are a publishing house or author who has a book Southern in nature, or by a Southern writer, that you would like the Dew to review, please contact me at dewonthekudzu@gmail.com and I will provide you mailing information. (Wink wink, nudge nudge... the Dew has been getting a little lax about the Southern rule recently... just saying.)

The Dew tries it's best to have a review online as close to the publication date as possible, depending on the number of books waiting for review.

Please note, book reviews are the Dew's "business". The Dew does NOT post it's reviews on other sites. Please do not request that we do so. Thank you.

BUT, if I review your book, you may feel free to share it wherever you wish!
