A nice, thick book of short stories all set in the Delta Region of Mississippi. Many of the stories are placed in and around Clarksdale and quite a few revolve around, or at least mention, Robert Johnson.
Morgan Freeman starts off the book with a fine Forward. Sets the tone just right to sit down and dig in deep.
Many well-known authors are in this anthology along, with up and coming names. John Grisham uses one of his stories from Ford County, Fetching Raymond. Editor Carolyn Haines contributes her own story, The Sugar Cure and Charlaine Harris, famous for Sookie, contributes a fine crossroad story, Crossroads Bargain.
But there are plenty of other stories in there that just reach out and grab you. I enjoyed them all and look forward to going back and revisiting quite a few.
Tyrus Books will contribute $1 for each copy of Delta Blues sold to the Rock River Foundation, an organization helping with education and literacy efforts in the Mississippi Delta.
