I love short fiction stories as they’re great to read in small bursts. You get the complete story before turning out the lights at night or while you eat lunch. This particular anthology is a nice quick read that contains a good amount of stories for it’s size. While the stories revolve around “no-gooders”, they all are very different from each other. We have romance crime, goon crime, white and blue collar and the basic, “Oh no, what have I just done crime”.
Stories range from the make-up man on a film in a monster movie set in the swamps with three gorgious women, people finding themselves on lonely stretches of highway with possible murderers trying to catch rides with them, to the man that only wants silence in his life and will do anything to make it quiet. These for some reason all reminded me of the stories set in the past, even though many are present day. I imagined them all in grainy black and white with magnificent backdrops. All good stories that catch the attention quickly.
