The Cracker Queen:
A Memoir of a Jagged, Joyful Life

Lauretta tells about her real life that is so “out there” you could find it hard to believe. I believe every word as I was surrounded by such people growing up myself and could relate to quite a few of the stories.
Lauretta was raised in the middle of Georgia by a free wheeling Dad who enjoyed the ladies, deeply loved her mother at that same time, and enjoyed wearing mesh shirts to show off his gray chest hair……….. and a mother who had a wee bit of a tolerance issue with alcohol and the law.
They lived their lives by their own rules… which frequently had nothing to do with anyone else’s rules…. Pulling joy out of the simplest tasks and dealing in good spirits with obstacles in their path that might have bowed under a different type of person.
The story explains how growing up with so many obstacles toughened Lauretta up and formed her into what she is today – an Anti-Scarlett. She is The Cracker Queen. A strong, authentic woman who says what she thinks and means, doesn’t back down, and raises heck to here and back to get what she needs or wants.
She tells a lot of great stories in this book – each chapter is it’s own tale so it’s perfect for lunches and quick reads.
