Exley is a book that is sharply, bitingly, dryly witty. So dry that in some parts you will read a passage, go on and then suddenly stop and back up. The "A-ha!" comes and you find yourself laughing at the words.
A very interesting tale of a boy, Miller, who searches for his missing father. He suspects he’s gone to war but no one will talk. He also suspects he died in war, but certainly hopes he’s wrong. Somewhere along the way he decides that his father’s favorite author, Exley, will know how to find him. So Miller begins a journey to find Exley, who he's sure will then in turn help him find his father. Dr. Pahnee, Miller’s therapist, gets involved and the whole tale becomes even more amusing and confusing at the same time. You see, Dr. Pahnee finds Miller’s possibly widowed mother very attractive so he too is interested in just where the heck Miller’s father might be.
A very interesting story filled with confusion, mistrust, untruths and made up events. You try to keep it straight!
